P1LMS 2019

  1. Yes, by default it was "Packages/Bin32" and I changed it to "Packages". But I also know a case where this was not the solution of the "bad file desriptor" error. So I am not sure if this helps here, but I thought it could be worth a try.

It has something to do with downloading the needed files from the workshop I think. Somehow my subscription from P1 was not active anymore and unable to find. When it was set to open I was able to subscribe again and then it downloaded the necessary files. After that the issue was fixed. The strange thing is that between the first race and yesterday noting changed in my setting or on the PC. So why I was unsubscribed we still don't know.

It happend again. Worked fine this afternoon and just now I got the same error. Tried to find P1 again in steam but no luck. Could someone take a look and see if I'm friends on there so I can download the files needed?

Found the sollution. I deleted the packages folder and made an empty one called Packages. Loaded the game and it worked again. Still having the issue of not being able to find P1LMS on the steam workshop

Edit. Something changed again and now all the cars are gone. Tried my previous solution but no luck. Whats going on?

    Results

    Briefing:
    • Each car is only allowed once on the server (unique vehicles is active)
    • Content download works only from the practice server
    • Penalties will be removed from the race control if you want. But they will be checked after the race. If the penalty was justified (e.g. speeding in pits) we will remove 1 lap from your result, only cuts resulting in a penalty will be reviewed. Cuts only leading to a warning are not noted in the log files
    • Don't press ESC or your race will be over. You can kill your game or force a disconnect by pulling out your network plug. Afterward, you can rejoin with a fresh car and still finish the race
    • For LMP2 don't dive bomb the GTEs into the corners. In the end, both of you lose less time when you overtake them on the exists
    • Respect the other cars/class on track
    Pit Exit:
    • Drivers leaving the pitlane must follow the pit exit lane and must stay right of the white line (marked in red in the picture above). Infractions will be punished with a penalty mid-race.
    Orange Zones:

    Explanation:

In this orange zone, passing is allowed but with absolute care. Especially faster class cars lapping slower cars need to watch out and be extra careful.
If there is an incident in the orange zone, the car at fault will be given a harsher penalty as on other parts on the track for the same infraction.

If you have any questions regarding the third round of the P1LMS2019 feel free to ask.

    @All P1LMS 2019 drivers with race time
Did anyone else had sofar the following problem DURING the RACES:
Very low fps or stuttery gameplay, starting the race or driver swapping in?
If so, can you share your specs please and settings you used?
If you had it in a different series (ie. VEC, etc.) please also write, as I already had that issue in VLMS Road Atlanta and wanna hunt down that bug.

P.s. What I forgot to mention is, that it is rare for me, affected in VLMS Road Atlanta and P1LMS Suzuka only 1 stint each and didn't happen in the other driver stint (stint as in getting in the car UNTIL getting out of it) - in P1LMS it happend at race "restart", so seems not to make a difference if swapping in or starting the race
Before the red flag, I had 60+ fps .... After red flag: 19 - 50 (acc. ingame), but 95% of the time 20-24, near undrivable, as also FFB is affected
My guess is some sort of VRAM problem by rFactor 2, in combination with high vehicle count and some bug ; I don't have that in any other game
What I do prior to the race is always to test the worst case scenario, that means AI race at night with max rain and 49 AIs and check that I have at start at least 40, being alone around 60 fps, so this is not a case of too high graphics setting!

    Ryzen 7 1700 3.7 GHz, 32 GB DDR4-3000 no page file, Win 10 x64, GTX 970 3.5 GB VRAM + 0.5 GB running at much lower speeds
No Vsync ofc, most settings low, but texture details of player and opponents are at 3, which fills up VRAM

Absolutely no problems at all with framerate, only two small framedrops, because steam downloaded/installed a game during the race.

But in the last hour my rfactor crashed to desktop 2 times without any error message. Windows eventlog only saiys this (german)
"Aus einem der folgenden Gründe kann Windows nicht auf die Datei "" zugreifen: Es besteht ein Problem mit der Netzwerkverbindung, dem Datenträger mit der gespeicherten Datei bzw. den auf dem Computer installierten Speichertreibern, oder der Datenträger fehlt. Das Programm rFactor 2 wurde von Windows wegen dieses Fehlers geschlossen.

    Programm: rFactor 2
    Datei:

Der Fehlerwert ist im Abschnitt "Zusätzliche Dateien" aufgelistet."

Had no rFactor2 crashes before, so don't know whats the problem. Windows says rFactor2.exe was mssing data from a file

Yes, same for me as Jan and Adam. Even if i changed from 960 to 1070ti (both MSI on 3x screen) i´ve recognized problems. I´ve tried a lot of changes, last week i recognized drops from fixed 60fps via Riva tuner by passing pits or rain plus head lights. Even if i´ve got no big problems in testace, not even at start. In middle of the week i tested track and mod offline with 49 KI and rain, in the dark and in daylight. It wasn´t really fluid but as expected, but the circumstances had been hardcore i think, i´ve got 60% rain and through the spray you can´t see more than two lines of cars before you. But this wasn´t that bad as yesterday in race, with at this time only few cars around me.
Yesterday it starts good until the end of my two hours stint from 10 to 8 hours race duration. Don´t think that it went to dusk this time, but with 48-54 fps it became suddenly very laggy.
As i said i use Riva Tuner and Vsync Video and had most similar settings as Adam post above. Someone told me Vsync could be an problem if it steps under the 60fps, so i tried it "off", but it become worse even on Testserver with daylight and no cars.
As i thought it must not be an GPU problem, i find out, that i did not have lot of space on my rF2 partition, but an installation of needless rF1 alongside. So i decide to let Patition Magic delete it and add the rF1 partition to that of rF2 (SSD for sure). But that alone costs unexpected a lot of time, but even worse it crashed my system partition for whatever reason and no comment in Internet or USB-Boot-Stick would help, so i had to re-instal Win10 and all about.

Yes, maybe it was an stupid decision and i´m really sorry on my teammate Stephan Kern, but i did not want to drive another stint in this conditions i´ve got last three or four laps of my first stints. I want to get an little advantage and earned an bad write-off :(.

As recently as i had reainstalled Win10 and Teamspeak i realized, that some other guys became frame issues, - did i knew that before... But for me it´s unbelievable, that rF2 is so critical with gpu or their settings, and no matter which cogs i´ve turned all the month i´ve got those issues, i did not recognized big steps forward, unequal if in-game-settings, rF2 Video-Settings or nVidia-settings.
The green bar above the purple in rF2 seems mostly very well and the purple anyway, but if the frames drops, an little second green vertical bar plopped up right beside the normal vertical bar, maybe tow or three dots, and sometimes it seems like an very thin horizontal line above the normal green bar. But i did not know, what this gpu bars have to mean and how to interpret!?

Only i can say, i did not realized this hardly problems by setting up Assetto grafics! It´s very sad, that rF2 is that complicated in many things, if it is grafics, installing mods or problems with driver swapping as on Nords, Sepang and yesterday in Suzuka in another type. Would i only understand how to interprate the bottleneck. But for me no chance to see, if it´s gpu, cpu transfer to gpu oder maybe memory (16GB @3200) or SSD... For me it´s not acceptable to have to be an computer scientist to get to work an computergame :(. In reality i expect, that rF2 runs well on my system after fresh-installing Win10 and rF2. But i think that will be to optimistic :(

Thank god I was not the only one having problems.
When I saw in the Stream Chat, that you only had 20 Frames per second, I really knew what you were going through.
Had the same problem in my second stint around dusk. Had constant avg FPS of 30-35 in that stint with the lowest I noticed was 19 (was using Controll+F for recording).
Turning down visible cars to 9 before the test race not helped and when I heard that teammates were running 30 Cars with no problems I changed it after the test race and had not big problems during the real one at my first stint with around 65 FPS avg.
Still got a headache after had to driving the full second stint with that low FPS in flicker book style but no teammate to take over the car at that moment.

    Settings:
    Resolution: 1920 x 1080
    Mode: Fullscreen
    Video: Monitor 1
    Anti Aliasing: Level 1
Refresh Rate: 24 Hz ( default, would expect 60 Hz to be here )
    Language: English
    Sync: None
    Post Effects: None
    VR: Disabled

    Components
    Processor: AMD FX8350
    Grafics-Card: Club3d R9 290X (3GB)
    RAM: 16 GB DDR3

    @Daniel:

Your settings are a little bit high, aren't they? When it's dark they are much more effects becouse of the lights, shadows and so in.

I turned down everything to min and had 45FPS in lowest. But it was on the edge sometimes in terms of lagging on the start/finish straight.

@Mark Weiler , yes they are, already noticed that and turned them down. Not changed them after checking the "max reqiurements" of Rfactor2, but I guess they not took 40+ Cars Endurance Racing into account... Will turn down the settings before the next race for sure.
